New Church Auditorium
Executive Summary
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), House of Praise (HOP) Calgary is currently building a new church facility, which is situated at No. 5 Redstone Heights NE, Calgary to allow more space for its growing congregation. The plan has been in the works since 2010 when a committee was inaugurated to serve and raise ideas and plan the project including fund drive. The estimated project cost is about $9 million. The church project will also provide immense benefit to Redstone and Skyview communities.
Background
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), House of Praise (HOP) parish is presently situated at 32 Westwinds Crescent in the northeast (NE) quadrant of Calgary. The Lord is increasing our numbers; new families are being added, the ministry is growing and we need to reach out to greater number of people. As we experience numerical growth, the church continues to respond to the pulse of the congregants and ensure a congenial atmosphere for members. Our children are growing every year; we have had to lease/rent the adjacent bay within the complex to support our growing kids/youth population as an on-going process to mitigate space constraint. The building project focused on achieving three milestones, continually raise funds, purchase a piece of land alongside construction requirements and complete the building project.
The Building
The proposed 26,000-square-foot new church building will be a 400 seat sanctuary and will include about 100 car parking stalls at a ratio of 1 stall to 4 seats. The proposed new building will include the Auditorium (main sanctuary along with the worship platform and the sound boot), Youth/multipurpose hall, Children’s church, offices and a forty capacity pre-school. Also, there will be a large foyer for coffee bar and meet & greet area. Our aim and goal is that the development of the new church building will help the church to expand its current programs, such as those designed for young adults and the children in the community (Preschool). Transept Architecture Inc. completed the architectural design of the new church building in Quarter 2, 2014; and application for development permit is currently with the city of Calgary for approval. The building construction is expected to begin by 2015.
Going Forward
The parish (HOP) church members are very excited, supportive and optimistic that the proposed new church facility will be constructed as planned and on schedule. The planning has evolved over a number of years and nearing the point for construction to begin. There is a sense of vision because it’s going to allow us to do more things, in term of programming for all age group.
Donations and Giving
The construction of the new church facility will require several large and small donations that are sacrificial in nature in order to meet our campaign financial goal. These donations can either be given as a one-time lump sum donation or a weekly or monthly donation (as the Lord leads). In an effort to meet our financial target, the parish faithful members, workers and ministers will be donating towards this project in addition to the already agreed financial agreement with a local bank in Calgary.
